The UVAR® XTSTM Fluid Logic Module The Fluid Logic Module is the heart of the new system...a revolutionary microprocessor-controlled, pneumatically driven component that makes treatment fast and easy. An integrated module in a preconnected, disposable set replaces the peristaltic pumps and tubing clamps formerly used, significantly reducing both setup and operation time.

How it works Externally, the Fluid Logic Module is a molded acrylic cassette that is covered by the flexible PVC membranes.Internally, multiple chambers, pathways, and valves rely on pneumatic pressure to establish appropriate fluid pathways, open and close valves, and move fluid to and from the patient, the centrifuge, the collection bags, and the photoactivation chamber. Together, the result is a self-contained, disposable component that optimizes treatment time while maximizing system reliability.

	Modular design means less setup time, more time for patients. Redesigned from the inside out. The XTS System utilizes a modular design that minimizes setup time, reduces waste, and is patient-focused...all without altering the science of photoimmune therapy or its effect on the patient. Patients receive the photoactivatable drug, 8-methoxypsoralen (8-MOP), after which various components within the XTS System collect blood, segregate the leukocytes, and photoactivate them with precise levels of ultraviolet energy. The newly photoactivated cells and untreated blood fractions are all returned to the patient.
	For over a decade, patients have been undergoing photopheresis an innovative photoimmune therapy incorporating ultraviolet light and the photoactive drug 8-MOP. Photopheresis is approved for the palliative treatment of the skin manifestations of cutaneous T-celllymphoma and is being studied as a treatment option for a wide range of diseases.

The UVAR® XTSTM System Microprocessors The microprocessors for the XTS System take input from the operator, sensors, and Fluid Logic Controller, then process it into information the Fluid Logic Module uses to move blood components to and from the patient and the various components of the system. The UVAR® XTSTM Fluid Logic Controller The Fluid Logic Controller is a series of valves and pressure transducers connected to a flexible membrane that is a mirror image of the Fluid Logic Module. As the point of contact for the Module, the Controller applies pressure to spesific areas, which then activates fluid movement, fluid pathways, and valve operations. The UVAR® XTSTM Procedural Kit Operators simply load the preconnected UVAR® XTSTM Procedural Kit, which contains all the components necessary to conduct a procedure in a completely disposable kit.
